McVegan Fries

Ingredients:

Seitan Burger Bites:

1 cup vital wheat gluten
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 cup vegetable stock

Sauce:

1/2 cup egg free mayonnaise
1 tsp yellow mustard
1 tsp white wine vinegar
Pinch salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder

1 bag oven fries
1/2 cup dairy free cheese (grated)

Garnish & Toppings:

Sesame Seeds
1/2 cup gherkins (minced)
1/2 cup shallots (minced)
1 cup iceberg lettuce (finely sliced)

Serve with:

Pot of Tomato Ketchup

Method:

1 Put the Seitan ingredients into a bowl & mix them together to form a firm, bouncy ball of dough. (You may need to get your hands dirty & knead the ball in order to bring it together properly & you may need a splash of water)
2 Pull strips of the dough off the ball & shape them into very small strips (think beef at a chinese takeaway)
3 Put the strips on a baking tray & bake them in the oven at 180℃ (356℉) for roughly 25 minutes
4 Put the onion fries on a baking tray and bake them
5 Put all the sauce ingredients into a bowl and mix them together
6 Take the seitan and the chips out of the oven and put them both into a large oven proof serving dish and fold them together
7 Sprinkle on the dairy free cheese, put the dish in the oven and bake for 3-5 minutes (until the cheese has melted)
8 Take the dish out of the oven, sprinkle on the gherkins, shallots, iceberg lettuce and the sesame seeds
9 Serve and dip into tomato ketchup
